Managing your Work Packages with SAP Focused Buil
Work Packages are essentially “mini-projects” of a greater or larger SAP Project. Such larger projects will require the commitment of various roles, spanning Analysts, Basis, Architects, and the Project Management Office. Therefore, Work Packages become an effective means of dividing an entire workloads, and breaking them down into deliverable packages that may involve varying timelines. Nonetheless, understanding and prioritizing your Work Packages will dictate the delivery success of a large SAP Project.
With SAP’s premiere project delivery platform, Focused Build, managing Work Packages can be done with ease. This article will be reviewing how Focused Build (SP2) handle the workload.
My Work Packages
In the My Work Packages application within Focused Build, you can now create Work Items to be tested within the Work Package status. Think of Work Items to be the “to-do’s” of the Work Package. Crossing these off your listed with simple and straight-forward management cuts on timeline for a faster delivery. By this method, the User no-longer has to rely on accessing the Status Scope module for creating Work Items. SAP has added more visibility and accessibility in managing your Work Packages in their release of Focused Build SP2.
If your team is approaching a greenfield SAP Focused Field, then the new Maintenance Work Package feature allows for better management with your Standard Changes. Your team may no have a useful change control management process in place, therefore affected by the documentation when approaching your Hypercare phase. The Maintenance Work Package tool allows you to now work with Standard Changes in regards to your Work Packages.
Improved Search Functionality in Work Packages
Moving forward to the Search Functionality in Focused Build SP2, comes an improved Status search capability that truly impact the efficiency for New Entries in your Maintenance Work Packages. As the User, you can easily and swiftly represent your Work Packages due to SAP improving the selection criteria of grouped status values. Again, approaching the Hypercare phase of the project is supported by this functionality, offering the ability to display Work Packages at your convenience. SAP has stepped-up the ability for control and execution with these new and improved features.
Additionally, if you need to create a Task for the Work Items in your Work Packages, you can access the Simple Task tool for dependable and flexible use. To do so, find the “Tasks” tab under the application “My Work Item”, from here you can create tasks or edit tasks to accommodate the progress of your project. See below:
